Extremely Rare CARTIER Lighter
LIMITED EDITION ( 1847 * pcs only), GOLD plated, enamel vertical stripe pattern. Interesting design, fusion of new and old oval series.
1847 was the year Louis-François Cartier (1819-1904) took over the jewelry workshop of the master-craftsman Adolphe Picard at 29, Rue Montorgueil in Paris.
inside mechanism and dimensions are from '70s, oval ring and rounded cap and bottom look like recent lighter shapes.
Mini oval series (height cca 6cm). Weight: 74. 5g (with almost empty gas tank). Weight is approximately the same as full silver 925 version of mini oval, so I am intrigued by the type of material that is gold plated.Might be silver (vermeil? Cartier used to use gold plated silver ).
It seems like casing is made from two metals, inner for the cap and mechanism, outer for gold plating.
