Venditore: angelline-kimono (2.820) 100%, Luogo in cui si trova l'oggetto: Edgware, Middlesex, Spedizione verso: Europe, US, JP, CA, AU, Numero oggetto: 351905304727 BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE, PRETTY BRIGHT GREEN, FAUX (ARTIFICIAL) SILK with WOVEN WATER SWIRL TEXTURED PATTERN, JAPANESE HOUMONGI KIMONO with TRADITIONAL COLOURFUL FLOWERS with GOLD PAINT & some EMBROIDERY DETAILING This is a lovely authentic 'special occasion' kimono. So this is a chance to get a genuine beautiful, handmade, vintage Japanese kimono at a great price. This kimono is a hand-stitched, lined kimono. It is very pretty! This houmongi kimono is a superb, kimono made from glossy, lustrous, medium-weight, faux silk (artificial silk). It is imitating a type of figured silk called Rinzu. The base fabric is a lovely colour. It is graduated pale green but quite a vibrant colour, brighter than the photos suggest. The green colouring graduates to white around the patterned areas. This graduation in colour is very typical of kimono patterns and is called bokashi. The base fabric has a beautiful all over, woven pattern of swirling water eddies. I don't think they show up well on the photos but they add a lot of richness the the effect of the design, I hope you can see this underlying pattern on the close up photos. On this background is printed a colourful pattern depicting traditional, Japanese flowers. They include all the most popular and typical Japanese flowers, peonies, plum blossom, chrysanthemum, nandina and grasses. The larger flowers to the front skirt have some gold couching embroidery and there is a lot of gold outlining and detailing to the whole design. The colours are vivid and deep and gives a lovely effect. The design flows across the seams in the front skirt. This means it is a higher quality item than those where the pattern is more random or repetitive. The pattern is biased towards the front left shoulder and right back shoulder/sleeve and hem which denotes this as a houmongi kimono. The lining is white, glossy, artificial silk in the body of the kimono and white, artificial crepe silk with a pale orange border in the skirt and cuffs..Faux silk kimono have become very popular in Japan because they are easier to clean than silk kimono. They should be dry cleaned. Please note this item does not come with a belt - although any sash or ribbon can be used to tie it. Authentic Japanese kimonos do not have belts but instead are worn with an obi. Real Japanese kimonos are long and are designed to be pulled up at the waist to get the correct length. This kimono could be worn or displayed.AGE & CONDITION: This kimono seems to be from the early Heisei period (1989 - now) possibly 1980s or early 1990s. It is in near mint to excellent condition. This means it is in overall great shape with no conspicuous faults. The outside is near mint with no faults to note. The lining has some very minor yellowing and some very faint watermarks at the hem, not conspicuous and should not affect the use of the kimono at all. It is a vintage item with a little age but it looks quite new and does not have that 'vintage' look. SIZE: It is a typical size for a kimono of its kind.. Sleeve cuff to sleeve cuff width is 130cm/51”, overall length is 152cm/60”, the width across the back (side seam to side seam) is 61cm/24”. The weight is 950g which is reflected in the postage cost. HOUMONGI KIMONO - literally translates as visit (homon) wear (gi) and can be worn by both unmarried and married women. They are ranked second in formality behind the tomesode for married women and the furisode for unmarried women. Houmoungi were traditionally made from bolts of silk that were temporarily stitched to the finished length, hand painted, and then taken apart to be dyed before being re-sewn. This complex process made these kimono highly valued. Houmongi are the most formal of this kind of kimono as they have more spread of pattern than other slightly less formal types of kimono such as the tsukesage. They are worn to such occasions as parties, tea gatherings, galas, exhibitions, more formal celebrations like weddings, and for visiting people. WHY CAN SOME WOMEN'S KIMONO BE SO LONG? they are traditionally shortened by hitching up at the waist and hiding the excess fabric behind the wide obi belt that would traditionally be worn with it. If you need any more information or pictures just send me a message. All information is to the best of my knowledge. Please bear in mind, that colours do not always show absolutely accurately on photos and on monitors although they should be close to reality. My items are mostly vintage and are not returnable unless grossly mis-described, so please check the details and measurements before bidding/buying. Please be aware that vintage clothing does not usually 'look like new' even when it is in excellent condition. Some slight general signs of ageing and use should be expected. If these are conspicuous they will be mentioned in the description. Low feedback – if you have less than 3 feedbacks, please email me before bidding. If you do not, I may cancel your bid and block you from bidding until we have communicated. Sorry about this but it is based on previous experience of problems. Overseas buyers must pay with paypal. Payment and postage terms: The postal charge includes a small packaging and handling charge. eBay now charge me a final value fee commission on the postal charge as well as the item value. So I have had to pass this new cost on via the postal cost. UK buyers can pay by paypal, cheque, electronic bank transfer (email for details) or postal order. Item will be sent when funds have cleared. Basic 1st and 2nd class mail is only covered for £20. Therefore this kind of postage can only be offered on low value items. Higher value items will be posted by signed for mail with insurance cover up to £50 due to loss or damage in the post. If the item is worth more than £50 then I will send you an invoice with a special delivery option which you should choose if you want it fully insured. If the item is not fully insured, obviously you cannot get the money back if the item is lost or damaged in the post. On post to overseas. - The post office have recently reduced their cover on standard airmail to £20. Therefore I can only use standard airmail for low priced goods. This is not tracked, if you want a tracked service then please ask for a quote or choose signed for service. For higher priced goods I will be quoting for signed for mail which has insurance for up to £50. If the item sells for more than £50 and you want more insurance it will cost an extra £3. Sorry about that, but that is new post office pricing. If the item is not fully insured, then obviously you cannot get the money back if the item is lost or damaged in the post. Please note that once the parcel has left my hands, I cannot accept responsibility for delays caused by the performance of the postal services or customs in your country. Combined postage for Overseas - Please be aware that as the weight and value of the parcel goes up, so does the price of postage and the need to fully insure. It is not usually much cheaper to combine postage especially to overseas. Sometimes it is actually cheaper to send two or three small parcels than one large one. This is based on the post office pricing structure and is not in my control. Combined postage for UK buyers, depending on what you buy, I will look into the most secure and economical way to send combined parcels and advise you of options. But again as the weight and value of the parcel rises so does the postage cost. Please do not expect large savings on combined postage. RETURNS POLICY – I do not take returns except in the exceptional circumstance of an item being wrongly described. Please understand that selling items on ebay and posting them out incurs costs to me, so please don't buy unless you have read the description carefully and are sure that you want the item. Except in the situation where an item has been wrongly described, the buyer is always responsible for return postage. Condition: The kimono is in overall great shape. It is in near mint to excellent condition. This means it is in overall great shape with no conspicuous faults. The outside is near mint with no faults to note. The lining has some very minor yellowing and some very faint watermarks at the hem, which are not conspicuous and should not affect the use of the kimono at all..
